You can also press ESC or Ctrl+F12 (dashboard shortcut) I found left clicking somewhere very annoying, better get the cashew for the dashboard even if it the Desktop is set to "workspace without toolbox"
This would also be my preferred solution.
This is something that should be solved upstream, would you mind filing an upstream report and resolving this one here with the url?
