https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=490045 Summary: luks_root=/dev/sd.. gets removed from menu.lst which lets the boot fail Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bitdealer@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Following the howto at http://lizards.opensuse.org/2009/03/18/encrypted-root-file-system-on-lvm/ I noticed that the "luks_root=/dev/sda2" part gets removed from my menu.lst after running on online update so the next boot fails with "Volume group "system" not found" until I append "luks_root=/dev/sda2" to the grub parameters which kinda "isn't nice" to say it politely. How to reproduce: 1. Follow the howto at http://lizards.opensuse.org/2009/03/18/encrypted-root-file-system-on-lvm/ 2. reboot after the installation is finished to ensure everything is working as expected 3. add the oss, non-oss & update repositories and run an online update 4. reboot and see it fail 5. append the "luks_root=/dev/sd..." part to the grub parameters which should fix it Preferred solution: Leave the "luks_root=/dev/sd..." in my menu.lst alone. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
