Seems to be fixed again in kernel-desktop-2.6.39-rc6.20.1.i586 from Kernel:HEAD. Thanks!
Allegedly, this was fixed a different way upstream. So I removed the patch from our repos (head and stable) now. Please keep an eye on it. If the problem still persists after some days with k:HEAD, shout loudly.
