https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687421 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687421#c0 Summary: Tracker takes long to finish and requires high CPU usage Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: edwin@secureoffice.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 After upgrading to 11.4, I found that tracker would run each time I started my PC. Never saw tracker before, and since it seems to be a GNOME appl, I'm not sure who installed it (did it come with the upgrade?). Anyway, both tracker-store and tracker-miner use around 90% of my CPU capacity, causing the fan to sound like my PC wants to take off, and my other applications to run slow. I have about 200G of data on my PC, but most of it is quite static and never changes. Furthermore, tracker seems to take ages to finish. I suggest that trackers and beagles and whatsoever would only run if I don't use my PC and that they would stop indexing as soon as I touch my mouse or keyboard.
