https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=634667 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=634667#c0 Summary: mkinitrd / bootsplash missing dependency on libpng12 during installation. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: edward.cullen@hp.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en-GB) Presto/2.6.30 Version/10.60 During installation, it is possible to create a package selection that will cause mkinitrd to fail, resulting in a non-booting system. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. During initial stage of setup, Select 'minimal installation' 2. On the installation summary screen, enter 'Software Selection' 3. Manually select 'KDE desktop' pattern 4. Continue installation. Actual Results: Installation will continue until mkinitrd is executed. mkinitrd will report an error, saying it cannot find libpng12.so. Expected Results: mkinitrd succeeds. I suspect this is simply a missing RPM dependency, caused by the move to libpng14. I've marked this as critical for two reasons: 1. It can cause an install to fail (always creates a bad impression). 2. It is highly likely to be possible to (inadvertently) break a running system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
