I found the cause in the kernel messages: Mar 17 10:56:13 suse gnome-session[3216]: WARNING: Application 'libcanberra-login-sound.desktop' failed to register before timeout Second, I did what you suggested using the non-GF mode and the messages I got in the kernel where: Mar 17 12:31:30 suse pulseaudio[3469]: module-alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write! Most likely this is an ALSA driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers. Mar 17 12:49:27 suse pulseaudio[3407]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_update() returned a value that is exceptionally large: 232092 bytes (1208 ms) Most likely this is an ALSA driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers. Playback was awful, like I said. However, I tried something that made if work well. While playing music in banshee I double clicked on the gnome volume control (I believe this is managed by pavucontrol) and playback stopped stuttering and stopped skipping as well. Even from different sources I was able to play audio flawlessly, but when I closed the volume control everything got messed up again...really weird Another comment I have is that, I've also been using Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibex, which uses alsa 1.0.17a and pulseaudio 0.9.10 and I have no trouble with audio whatsoever!! not even the loud distortion when playing flash online. How can this be? it is the same computer! I think soon I'll have no choice but to settle with ubuntu which works for me... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
