The diagnostic script indicates the hardware audio codec is an Intel CougarPoint HDMI, and you are running openSUSE-11.4 with a 32-bit 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop kernel. This is the older kernel for 11.4, and the newer 2.6.37.6 in addition to having security fixes, also has alsa driver fixes. In addition, I when I search on the alsa web site for the CougarPoint HDMI I obtain this hit: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Special:Search?search=Intel+CougarPoint+HDMI&go=Go which indicates updates to this codec in 1.0.24 of alsa. But your openSUSE setup has only the 1.0.23 driver version of alsa. I recommend you 1st update your kernel to the 2.6.37.6 per the official openSUSE update repository. Reboot, test. If that does not work, then update all your alsa apps that are installed already and also install alsa-driver-kmp-desktop for your kernel version. There is guidance here on how to do that: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Alsa-update Then if none of those work, report back here. Also keep an eye on this bug report while deciding to follow my suggestion, as the SuSE-GmbH packager who is the assignee for this bug may spot the problem immediately and have a significantly superior approach. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
