Is there a specific defect that was fixed in this test repository?
Yes. There is a bug fixed in libsolv-0.3.0: +- fix dataiterator returning random data in some cases +- add changelog parser +- fix nasty bug in selection_filter_rel +- allow re-run of an existing solver +- bump version to 0.3.0 This is why your zypper failed immediately after having called the resolver. The random data returned by the solver messed up everything.
Is it recommended to re-enable the original 12.3 update repository?
Yes. update/12.3-test is a staging area for pending official updates. If they pass all tests, they will be released in official update/12.3. For a stable production system update/12.3 is recommended, as update/12.3-test may also contain hot-fixes which are not needed on every sysytem. NOTE: ===== Within the next days libzypp-12.13.2 will be released to update/12.3-test (and hopefully to update/12.3 soon). You should consider updating to this version. The libzypp-12.13.1 you currently have installed has a bug which causes the logfiles (zypper.log and YaST2/y2log) to be truncated, instead of appending new entries. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
