Same behaviour as described in comment #7: 1. nm-applet -> "connect to other wireless network" (give proper ESSID) 2. see nm-applet trying to connect but being stuck 3. confirm with "iwconfig" that ESSID is not set / blank 4. now manually set right ESSID (iwconfig wlan0 essid johann-eilers-weg_24) 5. see nm-applet complete the connection Unlike described in comment #7 "iwconfig" now does show the correct ESSID (no additional trailing letter). But other than that no difference between nm-applet and knetworkmanager.
