In the office somehow the dns is working and the /etc/resolv.conf gets updated. The only difference that I can think off is that I am using the search domain from the office. However at home I do not get a correct DNS settings whether I am using ifup or NetworkManager. I tried to use wired and wireless, but both ends up in the same situation. No DNS entries. NetworkManager is reporting that the DNS is 192.168.0.1, however this is not being reflected in the /etc/resolv.conf. If I logged on to the office network, then the /etc/resolv.conf contains all the settings from the office and not the ones from the new network. If I run netconfig update -v then i have the following output: localhost:~ # netconfig update -v debug: lockfile created (/var/run/netconfig.pid) for PID 3978 debug: lockfile created debug: Module order: dns-resolver dns-bind ntp-runtime nis debug: dns-resolver Plugin called debug: Use NetworkManager policy merged settings debug: exec get_dns_settings: /var/run/netconfig//NetworkManager.netconfig debug: exit get_dns_settings debug: dns-bind Plugin called debug: ntp-runtime Plugin called debug: Use NetworkManager policy merged settings debug: exec get_ntp_settings: /var/run/netconfig//NetworkManager.netconfig debug: exit get_ntp_settings debug: nis Plugin called debug: Use NetworkManager policy merged settings debug: exec get_nis_settings: /var/run/netconfig//NetworkManager.netconfig debug: exit get_nis_settings debug: format_yp_conf called with : debug: current domain is ; given domain is debug: domain matches ... set empty debug: No changes for /etc/yp.conf The contents of NetworkManager.netconfig is : localhost:~ # cat /var/run/netconfig/NetworkManager.netconfig CREATETIME='1222323173' SERVICE='NetworkManager' INTERFACE='eth1' DNSSERVERS='192.168.0.1' I will attach the diverse configuration files to this one. Later today I will be in the office and then I will provide the same output again so that maybe the difference can help.
