https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=427854 Summary: some entries removed from menu.lst and order of entries changed after kernel update Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jaanvajakas@hot.ee QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=240615) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=240615) my original menu.lst and the menu.lst and menu.lst.old generated during the kernel update After a kernel update (this time from 2.6.25.11-0.1 to 2.6.25.16-0.1, but the same behavior has occurred with previous kernel updates), some GRUB menu entries, that I have manually added to menu.lst, get removed. Also the order of the entries is changed: the failsafe openSUSE menu item for the new kernel becomes the second menu option but the failsafe item for the old kernel was sixth. Expected behavior: only two entries - openSUSE and failsafe openSUSE - should get replaced with the ones for newer kernel versions, no additional entries should be removed and the order of the entries should not be changed. In the attachment menu.zip, the file menu.lst.original is my original /boot/grub/menu.lst, the file menu.lst is the new /boot/grub/menu.lst (after restart after the kernel update) and the file menu.lst.old is the file /boot/grub/menu.lst.old that seems to be generated during the kernel update where new entries have been added but no entries have been removed yet. Of course I can always manually recover my menu.lst from menu.lst.old, it is a bit tedious to do it after each kernel update. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
