I dug an old HP laptop with the same CPU (Turion X2) and tested 32bit installation. And, the problem was confirmed indeed. It hangs up at boot.
However, now even the old kernel (openSUSE-13.2 GA kernel) fails to boot, too. At the fresh installation state, there was no ucode-amd installed. Thus it booted without ucode. So, the (latest) ucode-amd fails with both 3.16.6 and 3.16.7-24 kernels.
I'm going to try other 3.16.x kernels, just to be sure...
3.16.7-21 boots up. So indeed it's a regression from 3.16.7-21 to 3.16.6-24. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
