Here is what I have found so far. running: lsinitrd /boot/initrd >/dev/null gives this error message: cat: write error: Broken pipe this happens if: 1) you run the command on a console (ctrl alt F1-F6, tty is /dev/tty<n>) if you run the command in a terminal (xterm, konsole, etc, where tty is /dev/pts/<n>) then there is no error message AND 2) gnome-keyring-pam is installed.
