https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=843495 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=843495#c0 Summary: KDE team says that KDE 4 should be compiled without KRandR and use KScreen instead. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: andreash87@gmx.ch QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/29.0.1547.76 Safari/537.36 I found problematic behaviour of KDE 4 when used with multiple screens and a docking station. The corresponding KDE bug can be found here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324393 It was posted by someone else who is using Ubuntu. I commented here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324393#c3 The KDE maintainer in charge (Daniel Vrátil) responded that the faulty behaviour was due to the use of the KRandR module which, apparently, should not be used anymore. Instead, KScreen should be used.
Andreas, that's a dialog from the old KRandR module. Please talk to your distribution to disable building of KRandR in their packages (it's possible via a cmake switch) and ship KScreen as default instead. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324393#c4
Please feel informed hereby that you should ship KDE 4 with KScreen instead of KRandR according to the KDE 4 team.
