Created an attachment (id=501501) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=501501) [details] /var/log/boot.msg from the rescue system of the os 12.2 rc2 dvd booting with hwprobe=-modules.pata
Sorry, I experimented a bit with the option hwprobe=-modules.pata. Since it did not have any effect on the low i/o performance of my pata disks, I finally skipped it. Do you recommend to use it anyway?
hm... per your log, I think hwprobe command doesn't work on 12.1/12.2 with your machine. Kernel still probe pata_pdc2027x driver for 0000:00:0b.0 device: <7>[ 5.998017] pata_pdc2027x 0000:00:0b.0: version 1.0 <4>[ 5.999320] ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKB] enabled at IRQ 10 <7>[ 5.999343] PCI: setting IRQ 10 as level-triggered <6>[ 6.098682] pata_pdc2027x 0000:00:0b.0: PLL input clock 16696 kHz <6>[ 6.251530] uhci_hcd: USB Universal Host Controller Interface driver <6>[ 6.265909] ohci_hcd: USB 1.1 'Open' Host Controller (OHCI) Driver <6>[ 6.289309] microcode: CPU0 sig=0x683, pf=0x1, revision=0xc <6>[ 6.506347] scsi0 : pata_pdc2027x <6>[ 6.513605] scsi1 : pata_pdc2027x And, there still have ata_bmdma_interrupt problem causes IRQ #10 disabled: <3>[ 7.403548] handlers: <3>[ 7.403679] [<e0e00d00>] ata_bmdma_interrupt <0>[ 7.403707] Disabling IRQ #10 I think bmdma doesn't work with pata_pdc2027x on your machine causes the performance drop a lot. There have 2 things need to check, I will check: + why hwprobe=-modules.pata doesn't work + why ata_bmdma_interrupt have problem with pata_pdc2027x driver. For ata_bmdma_interrupt problem, does it possible you can use 3.5 kernel on your machine to check if this issue already fixed on upstream? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
