http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1102569 Bug ID: 1102569 Summary: Use the blk_mq scheduler framework Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sonichedgehog_hyperblast00@yahoo.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- This is a request for enabling the blk_mq disk scheduler by default. This scheduler has been around for over an year, with the old one bound to be deprecated in future kernel versions. The performance improvements of bfq over cfq are noteworthy, this should bring a nice optimization to all users. Currently the new scheduler requires the kernel parameter scsi_mod.use_blk_mq=1 to enable. The kernel needs to be compiled with the proper flags to use it automatically. I believe other distros already consider blk_mq the standard block queueing framework, openSUSE just needs to update its kernel build flags if there are no objections to this change. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
