I either understand but also don't understand the discussion about this bug and it's consequences here. But this is a serious bug for some people.
For a non experienced user, this kernel leads to an unusable system. A (slightly) experienced user will try to start the system with the previous kernel.
Minimum a workaround like this should be mentioned here: Go to YaST, start boatloader module and set default kernel to previous (Boot Loader Settings - Default Boot Section). So it's possible to "sit out" the problem until the next kernel is provided in the update stream.

That's what I have done :-) DO not forget to lock the kernel resp. the .46 version in YaST (or zypper as another comentard has explained) so you do not accidentally re-install the broken .49, perhaps hidden in other pending updates. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
