Therefore when you have KDE as desktop, there is by default kooka (kdegraphics3-scan RPM) installed so that no Gimp scanner plugin is installed. Because there are two RPMs which provide a Gimp scanner plugin, Recommends: sane-frontends is not correct because it would install sane-frontends even if xsane is already installed (e.g. in case of a Gnome desktop). Therefore I submitted right now (Thu Sep 4 09:06:20 CEST 2008) I submitted xsane and in sane-frontends to STABLE with Provides: gimp_scanner_plugin and I assign the bug now to the gimp RPM maintainer so that the gimp RPM can "Recommends gimp_scanner_plugin". Regarding the usability in Gimp: Unfortunately the acquire menue is then empty without any user information what might be missing. Gimp knows that scanner plugins are missing (otherwise the acquire menue would not be empty) but it doesn't tell this to the user. Therefore Gimp should be enhanced that the acquire menue is not empty but there is a button which shows an explanatory message what is missing to get this functionality actually working. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
