https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=739074 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=739074#c0 Summary: GNOME NetworkManager does not display "EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/etc." for mobile broadband; transfer rate is suspiciously low Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=469359) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=469359) Partial screen shot while the rate is below 30kB/s User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:9.0) Gecko/20111216 Firefox/9.0 SeaMonkey/2.6 When using my mobile broadband stick to download updates, I found that the rate never exceeded 30kB/s. However in Windows I can download at 180kB/s. I suspect that ModemManager does not put the stick into the best possible mode. It's hard to debug, because the protocol isn't displayed either (unlike Windows). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use mobile broadband stick (e.g. congstar's ZTE MF100 (19d2:0039 ONDA Communication S.p.A.)) Actual Results: Download rated are poor. Displayable connection information is poor. E.g. "nmcli dev status" just says: nmcli dev status DEVICE TYPE STATE ttyUSB2 gsm connected Expected Results: Display more information for the connection, at least as much as the Windows tool would. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
