(We really need to fix bug 724554; it shouldn't be too hard)
So it's actually a larger debate than tracker. I don't think we should mark
desktop files in /etc/xdg/autostart/ as config files that shouldn't get
overwritten. If they change in the package, I really believe we want the new
version.
Arguably, they shouldn't live in /etc in the first place. But this would have
to be discussed on the xdg mailing list.
If you want to disable tracker, there are several alternative approaches that
are safer:
- change the default gsettings settings for tracker. See
https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=README.Gsettings-overrides&package=glib2&project=GNOME%3AFactory
- change the XDG_CONFIG_DIRS environment variable to have another path before
/etc/xdg, and add autostart/tracker-store.desktop and
autostart/tracker-miner-fs.desktop there, then edit those files.
Btw, the right way to disable an autostart app from the .desktop file is to add
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=False (or alternatively, Hidden=true, but that's a
slightly different meaning).
So I'm closing as WONTFIX: there are ways to achieve what you want that won't
break on upgrades, and that keep files from /etc/xdg/autostart/ sync'ed with
the packages.
