Come to think of it, it happens every time I set the mount point manually with yast2 disk. As I currently don't see another way to format and mount a fresh firewire disk, this should _not_ behave as described. Since this is a hotplug/hotunplug device it should _never_ be made mandatory for boot. As far as the research goes, this is my only candidate for this weird behaviour.
