It turns out that when using YaST, no changes are *ever* written to the boot loader, no matter what you enter into the user interface. I added a Windows drive to one of my openSUSE 12.1 systems, and attempted to modify the GRUB bootloader options through YaST. I found that after making changes, they *were not saved*.
