About 2 weeks ago I rearranged my SCSI chains to re-include the Acarded DVD drive. This time I put the Acard on its own wide (68 pin) single-ended chain, with the hard drives remaining on the LVD chain and the other drives on a narrow single-ended chain. I figured that if I got a lock-up now, with the hard drives separated, there might be a log file written :-) However, what has actually happened is no lock-up's at all ! It seems that the Acard (80Mbps LVD )did not like sharing a chain with the hard drives (160Mbps LVD) when running under 10.2 (there was never a problem with 9.0). I will continue to watch what goes on, and if there are any future problems I will come back ! There is a kernel update to install, but I am not happy to do it as it requires the nVidia driver to be reloaded and probably the aic79xx repatching ... Too much messing around for me to rush to do !
