There is no change in ehci and no major change in usb in that revision. Just to make sure, could you downgrade to kernel-default-2.6.18.8-0.3.i586.rpm and retest?
Unfortunately I have to make this bugreport more "interesting" after a kernel downgrade (using YaST version tab) and a reboot :-( # uname -a Linux cboltz 2.6.18.8-0.3-default #1 SMP Tue Apr 17 08:42:35 UTC 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux However, my cardreader refuses to work: Jul 28 23:04:05 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 19 Jul 28 23:04:06 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Jul 28 23:04:06 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Jul 28 23:04:06 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 20 Jul 28 23:04:06 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Jul 28 23:04:06 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Jul 28 23:04:07 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 21 Jul 28 23:04:07 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: device not accepting address 21, error -71 Jul 28 23:04:07 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 22 Jul 28 23:04:07 cboltz kernel: usb 4-4: device not accepting address 22, error -71 The "rmmod ehci_hcd" workaround makes the cardreader working again. I checked /var/log/messages. The last time I used the cardreader successfully was on Jul 15 (and of course after unloading ehci_hcd). # rpm -qa --last kernel-default-2.6.18.8-0.3 (today's downgrade) Sa 28 Jul 2007 19:21:30 CEST freetype2-devel-2.3.5-4.1 Sa 28 Jul 2007 11:28:47 CEST perl-File-HomeDir-0.65-13.1 Sa 28 Jul 2007 11:28:38 CEST freetype2-2.3.5-4.1 Sa 28 Jul 2007 11:28:31 CEST mkinitrd-1.2-151 Sa 28 Jul 2007 11:28:26 CEST MozillaFirefox-translations-2.0.0.5-1.1 Do 26 Jul 2007 19:38:26 CEST MozillaFirefox-2.0.0.5-1.1 Do 26 Jul 2007 19:37:49 CEST wireshark-0.99.5-5.3 Mi 25 Jul 2007 15:30:31 CEST gd-devel-2.0.32-53 Di 24 Jul 2007 20:53:33 CEST gd-2.0.32-53 Di 24 Jul 2007 20:53:23 CEST opera-9.22-0.1 Di 24 Jul 2007 20:53:16 CEST libxine1-arts-1.1.7-0.pm.0 Do 19 Jul 2007 22:00:29 CEST samba-winbind-3.0.23d-19.7 Do 19 Jul 2007 22:00:26 CEST samba-3.0.23d-19.7 Do 19 Jul 2007 22:00:11 CEST kaffeine-0.8.4-0.pm.3 Do 19 Jul 2007 21:59:42 CEST libxine1-1.1.7-0.pm.0 Do 19 Jul 2007 21:59:14 CEST samba-client-3.0.23d-19.7 Do 19 Jul 2007 21:58:33 CEST libsmbclient-3.0.23d-19.7 Do 19 Jul 2007 21:57:58 CEST cifs-mount-3.0.23d-19.7 Do 19 Jul 2007 21:57:53 CEST libvorbis-devel-1.1.2-33 Mi 18 Jul 2007 18:50:33 CEST libvorbis-1.1.2-33 Mi 18 Jul 2007 18:50:28 CEST libopensync-plugin-kdepim-0.20-14.34 Mi 18 Jul 2007 00:39:20 CEST kommander-3.5.7-8.14 Mi 18 Jul 2007 00:37:44 CEST kommander-runtime-3.5.7-8.14 Mi 18 Jul 2007 00:31:53 CEST python-qt-3.5.7-22.12 Mi 18 Jul 2007 00:25:44 CEST [lots of KDE 3.5.7 packages from buildservice, filtered out with "grep -v ^kde"] Mi 18 Jul 2007 00:40:00 CEST osc-0.97-5.1 Mi 18 Jul 2007 00:25:19 CEST flash-player-9.0.48.0-1.1 Di 17 Jul 2007 23:54:01 CEST php5-xmlreader-5.2.0-16 Fr 13 Jul 2007 22:43:03 CEST [...] I just wonder what package could have caused the problems. I especially wonder if today's mkinitrd update could have broken the kernel downgrade... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
