http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=608773 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=608773#c0 Summary: openSuSE 11.2's Xournal 0.4.2.1 refuses to open a file that was previously saved, and states that there is an error, but it doesn't specify of what kind. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: publio.escipion.el.africano@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; es-ES; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.5.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.9 I have been writing a lot of notes on Xournal, and a particular file (2.9 Mb) has the bigger amount of them: drawings, handwriting notes and text notes. I saved and closed it at 00:07 May 24th after writing a text note particularly important and large. A few hours later, I asked Xournal to open the file, but Xournal refuses to open that file that was previously saved, and states that there is an error, but it doesn't specify of what kind. I reviewed the online Xournal User's Manual, but there is no suggestion concerning how to recover the document, but there is an explanation of the file format. I backed-up the file and gunziped it and the xml file inside is 9 Mb and the information stored seems to be tagged properly, as far as I reviewed it. I have had no problems with other file, but there is no other .xoj file as bigger as the one lost. So, I think that this issue is concerning with the length of the file. I am considering to remove from the xml file the last page written, hoping to recover the previous pages, but, due to the length of the file, it is almost impossible to highlight the content to erase inside an editor. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Xounal file circa 3.0 Mb length seems to produce this issue when asked Xournal to load it. 2. 3. Actual Results: Message: Error in the file what-ever-be-its-name. Expected Results: The file be opened and editable. openSuSE 11.2 x86_64 Final DVD plus Updates till present (except the last java-1_6_0-openjdk b17, because makes my OOo crash and lost irrecoverably all my data: bug#601243).
