What do you mean by "unstable"?
Mouse pointer can't be dragged away from bottom l.h. corner of screen for more than a fraction of a second.
Does that mean that it *does* work again after pushing the mouse around a bit?
No! Once I "test" the chosen monitor resolution the mouse remains unstable until I <tab> to <continue> the installation using the keyboard. The mouse is unusable at this time. However if I DO NOT alter the default monitor resolution all works well. (Sax2 not invoked)
This sounds like the kernel misinterprets the protocol at first and needs some events to trigger again. In that case it could very well be that we cannot fix this at all, if this happens due to the support of new mice that cannot be detected easily.
Firstly it is NOT a new mouse (microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A USB and PS/2 compatable) and Secondly SUSE 10.1 and openSUSE10.2 RC1 had no problem with this mouse. The problem is in openSUSE10.2 GM Installation Program.
From memory Sax2 does work OK if I do not test a configuration.
This is in perfect harmony to my estimation.
Please test the following: Get into runlevel 3 and start the installation Xserver (as root)
X -xf86config xorg.conf.install & sleep 3 && DISPLAY=:0 xterm
Locked up at grey screen with control of mouse cursor OK. <ctrl><alt><backspace> allowed me to save the attached Xorg.0.log.
Ugh. Forgot you should change to runlevel 3 first. Also make sure to type this exactly as written (first one &, then two). Takes three seconds until you get the xterm.
NO I most definitely booted to run level 3, logged in as root and typed the command exactly as described. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
