https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=259930 Summary: MUST HAVE ENHANCEMENT AS A DEFAULT PART OF 00 -Open Office Suite - Unable to alter default application/file extension launch Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: OpenOffice.org AssignedTo: eward@novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@tpg.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Despite and irrelevant to a .txt or .rft file type when you open open office calc - calc makes NO attempt to import the file into a spreadsheet using a wizard type approach. In fact in the .txt file contained only 1 column of text it would convert to a spreadsheet with the same one column of text. By-and-large- Spread sheet application have had this ability to import even tabled filled documents for over 12 years now! It is a very strongly relied upon feature in opening and document which is by nature repeatability in construction where huge amounts of data need analyzing. My bug here as well as describing what needs to be improved is the files extension handling of the whole suite. Irrespective of associating and extension to a particular application in OO the OO application which will open is 'I believe" determines 1 Is the application capable of saving the native files in a pre-defined extension type. AND With the exception of a .CSV the application within 00 which CAN save that file type will execute. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
