http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=519649 Summary: Yast FACTORY Update and its Associated Help is Meaningless. There are NO Detailed Explanations as to the Difference Between Online Update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 The Optional Yast Module FACTORY Update offers very very poor help as to what this module achieves over Online update. I can find no immediate reference in the differences between the two modules. I do not have any debug/unstable or community repository defined, however the FACTORY update offers a significant warning that updating x packages may be dangerous, despite me selecting only the typical selections of a default KDE4.1 Installation. The option to back up the current system is reassuring and at the same time alarming as the restoration of the back, if required, remain unclear. If this Module is experimental I would suggest removal from packing list and leave it available on a opensuse repository. I am in fact not prepared to risk testing this on my production systems, however I may get the change later next month. Meanwhile I think we need to consider the above issues presented Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Yyast>Software Management>FACTORY UPDATE 2. 3. Actual Results: As above Expected Results: Clarity of functional purpose and ? inclusion in packing list, lack of help to help distinguish between online update modules factions and purpose. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
