Wayne,
Can you try gdbus introspect --session --dest org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Power --object-path /org/gnome/SettingsDaemon/Power ? If it fails, this is an incompatibility between gnome-shell and gnome-settings-daemon, or some other downstream issue. If it succeeds, then look at ~/.cache/gdm/session.log and grep for "JS LOG" and "JS ERROR".
Here is the command as entered and the output:
gdbus introspect --session --dest org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Power --object-path /org/gnome/SettingsDaemon/Power Error connecting: The connection is closed
Let me know if I did not do correctly.
Here is some additional information. It appears that this issue may not be gnome related specifically. I installed the acpi utility and ran like this: acpi -V. Here is the output: acpi -V Battery 0: Unknown, 96% Battery 0: design capacity 4882 mAh, last full capacity 4882 mAh = 100% Adapter 0: on-line Thermal 0: ok, 0.0 degrees C Thermal 0: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 1: ok, 0.0 degrees C Thermal 1: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 2: ok, 0.0 degrees C Thermal 2: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 3: ok, 30.0 degrees C Thermal 3: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 3: trip point 1 switches to mode passive at temperature 55.0 degrees C Thermal 4: ok, 47.0 degrees C Thermal 4: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 5: ok, 38.0 degrees C Thermal 5: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 6: ok, 70.0 degrees C Thermal 6: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 6: trip point 1 switches to mode passive at temperature 108.0 degrees C Thermal 7: ok, 57.0 degrees C Thermal 7: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 128.0 degrees C Thermal 7: trip point 1 switches to mode hot at temperature 99.0 degrees C Cooling 0: LCD 0 of 20 Cooling 1: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 3: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 4: Processor 0 of 10 Two things of importance here. My adapter status is shown as online. This is incorrect for I am holding the power connector in my hand. I have had it unplugged for at least the last 15 minutes or so. In addition, the capacity is shown at 96%. I ran the acpi utility a second time. This time it showed that my adapter was offline and battery status of 83%. Time between runs was no more than a minute or two. After this I did notice that the gnome battery indicator did update and now shows the adapter as unplugged and the battery at 83% as well. Based off of this information I would have to say that there is some sort of issue elsewhere regarding keeping this information up to date. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
