https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=257340 casualprogrammer@yahoo.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |NEW Info Provider|casualprogrammer@yahoo.com | ------- Comment #7 from casualprogrammer@yahoo.com 2007-03-25 15:18 MST ------- "There are two different problems here. The first was addressed correctly in comment #2, though I'm not sure how root(/dev/sda4) made it into menu.lst. Did you edit that by hand, or is that something we need to track?" This got there by itself, repeatedly. "It appears that somehow /dev/disk/by-id/ata-FUJITSU... isn't getting created. What are the contents of /dev/disk/by-id when the boot fails?" I just updated al kernel related rpms from the dvd and nothing else. Now I can boot to the old kernel again. I keep you posted what happens if I retry. Anyway, I suggest ( enhancement ) that existing kernels get only deleted after a successful boot to the new one.
