Afaik, Obsoletes, as used by rpm, is a transitional (dynamic) dependency. If X obsoletes Y, installing X will implicitly uninstall Y. I am not aware that an obsoletes alone already defines an upgrade path. Only the combination of provides/obsoletes flags a package as an upgrade candidate. And thats how Fedora specifies it also, to my understanding: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/NamingGuidelines#head-3cfc1ea19d2897... Adding Michael Schroeder (mls), being the technical expert for dependency semantics. Adding Michael Andres (ma), being the engineer implementing these semantics. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
