https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=395756 Summary: Thunderbird adds .eml attachment to forwarded emails Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sitsofe@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Description of the problem: Thunderbird 2 adds .eml to the name of forwarded mail attachments whereas Thunderbid 1.5 did not. This change now means that forwarded mail is often rejected by mail servers whereas it was accepted in the past. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start thunderbird . 2. Go the inbox . 3. Select a message and click on the forward button. 4. Fill in an address of a mail server that is known to dislike certain attachment filename extensions. 5. Click Send. Expected result: Mail to be delivered as in previous versions of SUSE/openSUSE. Actual results: A mail bounce saying that the mail has been rejected because it has a .eml extension is received. How reproducible is the problem? It is reproducible every time. Additional information: There is a patch in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380354#c80 which provides a hidden preference to turn off using .eml on email attachments. This would provide the option to restore the forwarded email behaviour in Thunderbird to that of previous versions of openSUSE.
