My system has an AMD 790GX chipset, and I use the on-board graphics. It used to work flawlessly before the kernel update. Workaround: Use the "nomodeset" boot option. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Power on computer 2. Select the desktop kernel in GRUB (not Failsafe) Actual Results: For a short moment the splash screen, with the logo and progress bar, appears, then the display goes black and nothing more happens. It is not possible to log in remotely to the machine. Doing a hard reset and rebooting using "nomodeset linux 1" shows that no log files were written /var/log by the failed boot. Expected Results: Normal system boot, leading to the X login screen. FGLRX not installed. Motherboard: Asus M4A78-E, AMD 790GX chipset (HD 3300 graphics, ChipId = 0x9614), DVI output used, 1600x1200 resolution. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
