https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204453 jsmeix@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Component|Printing |KDE ------- Comment #1 from jsmeix@novell.com 2006-09-11 01:38 MST ------- I don't know what "the packages as of September 8th" are. Which packages (i.e. which package names)? Which package version (i.e. what does "rpm -q <package-name>" return)? Nevertheless I simply guess you use CUPS 1.2 and have the problem described here: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/kssingvo/unsupported/CUPS/README.txt -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was created with the intention to make the API as much compatibel as possible. But it is also known, that some KDE applications no longer work. A work-around for KDE is shown here: http://www.cups.org/newsgroups.php?gcups.general+v:24960 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Easy to work around until updated KDE packages are available: Click "System Options" at the bottom of the kprinter dialog. In the pop-up dialog choose "CUPS Server" on the left and then on the right delete the contents of the field "Host" and enter "localhost" there and in "Port" enter "631". Then click on "OK" and kprinter will work again. kprinter remembers these settings, so you do not need to repeat these steps for each printout. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also see http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1527 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is one of two KDE bugs related to CUPS 1.2: 115891 KDE doesn't work with CUPS 1.2 124157 KDEprint incorrectly uses private CUPS APIs _ipp_add and ... Basically, they've been doing things with private APIs and structures for a while now and are now getting bit by it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- and the mail from Michael Sweet in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=197490#c2 I reassign it to the KDE maintainers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
