https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227411 Summary: System-wide Power Management Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hussam.al@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Hello, I have been running 10.1 on my laptop for quite some time now. Yesterday i upgraded to 10.2. Almost everything thus far runs smoothly with 10.2 (except a few quirks with fonts). The problem i am facing is because the "Advanced Settings" were removed from YaST's PowerManagement utility. In 10.1 i was able to specify ACPI behavior and Battery Warnings settings that will be applicable system wide. Now, however, they removed those settings and say that i should let kpowersave and gnome-power-manager take care of that. The problem with this is that kpowersave does not give allow me to make the machine turn off if the battery level is critically low. Also, what will happen to the user if they are not running kde/gnome ? What if the user is running WindowMaker for example ? In addition to that, the suggested utilities such as kpowersave do not allow me to configure some ACPI options such as the system's response to pressing the power button, or pressing the sleep button. Quite honestly, i don't know whether this classifies as a full-fledged bug, but it sure is annoying. If you would like any more info, please let me know.
