https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771301 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771301#c0 Summary: KMS: image crippled when switching resolution Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jengelh@inai.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- The kernel still cannot properly modeswitch between different modes. The openSUSE CD bootloader graphics usually start in a mode like 1024x768 (0x317 I believe) by default, and this is also copied into the installed system's bootloader. However, Xorg will attempt to use the highest-possible resolution. For the combination of VirtualBox 4.1.18 and kernel 3.4.4, the maximum resolution offered is 1600x1200x32bpp by the virtual environment, and this is what Xorg will choose. The switch _to_ Xorg always works, but switching to tty1 cripples the pixels if and only if tty1 doesn't also run in the same mode as Xorg. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
