http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=536723 Summary: Add google chrome or chromium to distro Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jfrantzius@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/3.0.197.11 Safari/532.0 .. or both! The easiest may be to snapshot chrome packages from what is listed at http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#Google_Linux_sof... for the release, and, as https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=531686&GoAheadAndLogIn=1 suggests, have the repo added (or mirrored?) with the distro. Complicated political implications probably lay ahead here. Maybe a full fledge OBS-build of chromium wouldn't take longer for somebody at Novell in the end, hoping that Google did a good job at providing Chromium sources. At least Chrome has superb performance (also on KDE4). If the user could somehow during install choose what to install as the standard browser, I'd find this an innovative choice for a Linux distribution. Probably too late for 11.2 since that's past Milestone 6.
