gvfs is recommended by libgtk-2_0-0 which is a dependency of about almost every Xfce package (it shouldn't be a hard dependency because it isn't strictly required) so it should have been pulled in. Have you set installRecommends = no or used --no-recommends with zypper?
I installed XFCE packages selectively using YaST Software Manager. I think I don't like to install recommended packages if I am not sure I really need them.
Strictly speaking, the Recommends for gvfs-backends is right as you don't necessarily need the backends :-)
The problem partially solved, but I still have no removable media icons on the Desktop. Thunar doesn't display mounted media in a side pane.
And again in ~/.xsession-errors
thunar-volman: Unsupported USB device type. thunar-volman: Unsupported USB device type. thunar-volman: Unknown block device type.
So this part looks like XFCE specific again.

I guess the fam daemon is not running. No big issue, or at least unrelated to this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
