https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483472 Summary: External display "dies" from time to time, when it's used as the only display Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lolkaantimat@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=278130) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=278130) xorg.conf User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009012700 SUSE/3.0.6-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.6 I have a laptop (1440x900) with an external display (1280x1024). I use only external display (xinerama and clone are turned off, also laptop's display is turned off in BIOS settings), but when X starts it works in clone mode (login screen is displayed at laptop's display) with wrong resolution for both displays: looks like laptop's display Y-resolution is 1024 and external's X is 1440. When I turn off laptop's display using KDE's Desktop Settings external display has correct resolution, but from time to time it dies (I get black screen, and it doesn't work even in other telinit). xrandr can't open display. I attach xorg.conf, also I will add Xorg's log. Also I have following thing thing in kernel logs: Mar 8 00:48:21 linux-ltde kdm[2750]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly Mar 8 00:48:24 linux-ltde kernel: [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5 Mar 8 00:48:25 linux-ltde kernel: [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5 Mar 8 00:49:02 linux-ltde python: [16890]: error: CUPSEXT could not be loaded. Please check HPLIP installation. Mar 8 00:49:28 linux-ltde kdm[2750]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly Mar 8 00:49:29 linux-ltde kernel: [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5 Mar 8 00:49:29 linux-ltde kernel: [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Disable laptop's display (I used KDE's display settings). 2. Work until crash. 3. Now your display died, so you can't even switch to terminal and restarting X makes laptop's screen work again, but it turns off when you login. Actual Results: Unhappily do a bug report. Expected Results: Happily do things I want to do. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
