However upstream is convinced [2][3] it's a libc/strlen problem, because it should not crash with NULL. For my standpoint is this pure academic debate. IOW I'm going to add the patch to our zlib package, so it will behave same as in 1.2.3. I'm only not sure if we should release this as a maintenance update for 11.4 - maintenance, what's your opinion? I'd recommend to have this fixed in Factory only.
