https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238572#c18 --- Comment #18 from Arthur Edwards <jim@edwardsj7.com> 2007-07-03 13:15:20 MST --- First an update ... Still no lock-ups :-) To the system the ACARD+ATAPI-DVD appear as a SCSI DVD drive (MMC compatible), wide 68 pin connector (80Mbps), which of course does not exist as a real product, and the driver that is loaded is the aic79xx. This is also used by the SCSI hard drives containing the OS and /home directories which are on the same SCSI chain (which is probably why the lock-up is hard). There are two CD drives and a MagnetoOptical drive on a second SCSI chain which is narrow (and not compatible with the ACARD). Remember that patching the aic79xx driver significantly improved the situation, which sort of implicates it as part (or all ?) of the problem. The issue occurs whether the DVD is in use or not (maybe it's the auto insert polling that causes it ?) ! Adaptec has its own 2.6 kernel drivers, but I have not tried the, as losing SCSI would disable the system and they are for version 10 (no .X) and stated for RAID enabled, which I do not have :-( Jim -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
