It does not work if there is one already running. In some strange circumstances, it might happen that the KDE session management starts an OOo instance before the applet could start its own. Then the applet cannot start it and shows the above message just after login. If you want to enable the quickstarter feature, you must make sure that there is not any other OOo instance running: + quit the application if you see an OOo window + try "killall -9 soffice.bin" Then it should be possible to enable the quicstarter feature and it should work fine. If you see the problem just after login, you have to store KDE session without running OOo or with running the quickstarter instance. I am sorry. It is hard to fix this problem in the current implementation. The right solution would be to port the internal OOo quickstarter for KDE. Unfortunately, it is not so easy, because there are problems to get working the OOo and QT event loops together.
