https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=367937 Summary: Automatic online updater spams user Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Security AssignedTo: security-team@suse.de ReportedBy: rawsausage@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Average Joe barely knows how to turn his computer on. At this moment the applet spams the user practically daily with updates. Really most of the users will not have enough will or experience to research what all the packages are and what they are about. Furthermore in the end of the day the situation boils down to two possibilities: click yes or click no. Chances are clicking yes or risking getting fscked in the internets. It is bad usability. It is not also pervasive, it is technical stuff that does not help the end user to accomplish his/her real life tasks - what the computers are for. OpenSuse's behaviour of spamming with all sorts of popups and dialogs that come automatically is getting so bad that soon it will be like Vista if this continues. Get out of the users face and stop being a nuisance please. I had the skills to make my own cron job to give me serenity but the Average Joe does not. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
