Hi everybody, we had a visitor on IRC suggesting the we should be more transparent to make it easier for community to join in. Suggested improvement were to speak more loudly about what we are working on right now. One easy way how to track boosters would be identi.ca group where we would post our boosting related notices. It takes quite some time to write a blogpost and I always thinks twice whether I really have something to say before doing so, but sending identi.ca notices takes almost no time and I don't have to really think about that that carefully. Only hard part in realizing this is to think of nice and short nickname for this group, so any suggestions? My idea was 'suseboost', but I think there must be something better out there in your minds... Other thing that came across my mind while speaking about transparency is that we have our biweekly meeting where we discuss, what we are doing. But these meetings are closed teleconferences. What about changing them to public IRC meetings? I know there are still few administrative internal stuff we need to discuss from time to time, but generally we speak about our sprints and this can be public and we can let anybody join with comments and suggestions. Also taking notes would be much easier ;-) -- Michal HRUSECKY SUSE LINUX, s.r.o openSUSE Boosters Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xFED656F6 19000 Praha 9 mhrusecky[at]suse.cz Czech Republic http://michal.hrusecky.net http://www.suse.cz

As a normal browser I would not opt Identi.ca (no offense) . Because that is something which is not related to project or is not a part of the project,it is a kind of social networking. Thus, I would suggest for something which is community built and has a tag kind of "powered by openSUSE" or something like that :-) . I hope I made myself clear. Also the daily reports are fine , rest . . . ;-) .

I don't think that identi.ca is the solution. We should very descriptive in our status reports and blog/communicate outside (e.g. news.o.o) as much as possible. -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o openSUSE Boosters Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9, CR prusnak[at]suse.cz http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+help@opensuse.org

Microblogging is not the worst choice for communication. If you prefer blogging, please create a blog post on start of a new project if necessary blog about updates and blog about the results. Besides that microblogging would not replace full blog posts but be an addition. If you do not like to use external platforms, this should be possible in connect.os.org, too (if it would allow group postings). Thanks for pointing that out. Maybe I missed some of them as I mainly use the wiki as informational resource. Perhaps it would help to place some of the above links to the wiki page. What would also be great is a 'Help boosting' page explaining how one could help out. Atm. it seems to be sworn community which does not really accept contributions from outside (Note: That's only what is visible atm. Klaas already added some good points previously and explained how to take part). Best Regards Marcus PS: I hate reply to author instead of reply to list ML list feature, because it takes discussions off list :() -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+help@opensuse.org

Our team page needed to be adapted to the right template anyway so i have added everything we talked about to it now. Everybody: please review!

I don't understand what's so bad about identi.ca. It's read by a lot of potential contributors. We could use it for lightweight visibilty of what we do and use a link to our group page in status reports. Of course, we should still write real blogs and news articles too. Let me clarify one thing: I didn't write that we shouldn't use identi.ca, but I think we won't solve our current problem (boosters not communicating to the outside enough) by introducing yet another tool. -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o openSUSE Boosters Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9, CR prusnak[at]suse.cz http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+help@opensuse.org

But I also do not consider it as "the solution" to the problem that we're still to little visible.
I think we have to try to fill all available pipes: Mailinglists, Twitter, Identi.ca, Blogs, talks, public showups, etc pp. The thing is: Everybody has to do it. Each of us can and should pick the ways to communicate he likes and use it, use it a lot. We do not do it enough yet. regards, Klaas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+help@opensuse.org
