Hi all. I was off for quite a while due to personal reasons, but still want to help boosting connect.opensuse.org. I do not know the status and what has been done in the meantime, but what I see on the web is not very promising (sorry). I would suggest to use: http://sharetronix.com/sharetronix/ as base for a new setup. It is feature rich and extendable. We have already set up a platform based on that software for a Swiss Ubuntu Community (http://www.ubunteros.ch) which is very successful.
