Hey, Sorry, I'm late :/ What I did two weeks ago: + went to Nürnberg: - good to see people again - managed to beat Klaas at FIFA. Once. And then he crushed me. - a few meetings, including a governance one with the board + got annoyed by some thread on some internal mailing list, trying to help people understand how to properly be part of openSUSE. + openSUSE Conference: - prepared my various talks/BoF and delivered them (two talks, a keynote, and a BoF, iirc) - lots of discussion about lots of topics with lots of people - had a good chat with Jürgen, Ciaran and Dominique about how to make it easier to install codecs, while still staying on the safe side legal-wise. - chatted with some GNOME upstream people and got a better understanding of what people are afraid of with the moduleset reorganization proposed by the release team. - had a deeper look at some changes proposed by Stanislav for defining default MIME handlers. - planned (or well, listened to discussion about plans of) plymouth integration, with Rémy, Nelson and Frédéric. - used Pavol's brain to see how we can move closer to upstream rpm packaging practices - discussion about planning App Store/Software Center/etc. What I did last week: + attended Ubuntu Developer Summit: - it quickly became challenging (first hour: "we'll use Unity instead of GNOME Shell by default") - used most of the week to discuss how we can improve the Canonical/GNOME relationship, talking with many people on what's wrong upstream and suggesting some changes on their side - very good discussion about Software Center and how to integrate some social things in there. . Software Center developers are willing to have a PackageKit backend, and to enable the use of a app-install database. This should make it much less Debian-centric. . Told them about the Open Collaboration specification, and they're considering it. . Totally willing to work together whenever possible. - more discussion about the upstream moduleset reorganization. People were positive about it, although not all of them were aware of it. - found another area of collaboration (with Ubuntu and Debian): shared (and meaningful) package descriptions. But we didn't have time to really discuss it; we just agreed that it should be done. - got buy-in from Ubuntu on the default MIME handler changes proposed by Stanislav. - got an update on the upstream GTK+ plans, and now have to find a way for GNOME to accomodate them... - chatted with Dan Williams (from RH) about NetworkManager a bit, and convinced him a NEWS file would be helpful :-) + Generally speaking, UDS was harder than expected because of their switch to Unity, but it was definitely useful, if only for the Software Center discussion. What I'm doing this week: + getting ill :/ + Linux Plumbers Conf + Boston Summit this week-end Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+help@opensuse.org
