Hi, the board elections will start in january 2011, and we are in the process of phasing out users.opensuse.org in favour for connect.opensuse.org. So we need to make sure that we can run the election there. There is a poll plugin available, that we plan to use for this. I created a test poll for the board elections here:
http://connect.opensuse.org/pg/polls/read/digitaltomm/10593/board-election-t...
(opensuse login not yet working, please ask prusnak if you don't have a test account)
Hmm, I logged in to connect.o.o with account:geeko / password:opensuse, but ATM, I can't see any poll on that page but just "Sorry: we could not find the specified poll." Do I have to log in with another test account?
The issues I currently see are:
- Start- End-date: Users.o.o had this configureable. In case of need we can click at the right time, but I don't see how to end a vote. - The results shouldn't be visible until the vote is done. Maybe it's also ok if only users that already voted can see the intermediate results?
I don't think so. If users that already have voted can see the intermediate results, they can tell them to users that have not yet voted, by blogs or tweets.
- It would be nice if we could add some introductory text above the poll options. - Users.o.o had much nicer graphs on participation, results. We may create those manually with an external tool. See for example: https://users.opensuse.org/elections/2/result - We need to announce the election to all members. Users.o.o had a function for this. To do this manually we need at least a list of all members emails. - Is it ok that one can see which user already voted, and when he voted? By constantly monitoring you could create a list which member voted for wich candidate.
One of the important role of election officials is, IMHO, to guarantee that there's no corruption for the election. For this purpose, we need some ways to confirm that the results are not improper manipulated. So I think this function should be very effective.
- The vote is now restricted to the group 'members'. Does this mean it is only visible for them, or can everyone see it?
What do you mean by 'it'? If you mean 'the page where members (= people that have right to poll) can poll' itself, I don't think it should be everyone-visible. But the result page should be everyone-visible.
- The site needs more design love.
Greetings
