Dear Legal team, as I'm not sure if you follow -factory (and how closely), I dare to forward you this mail. It seems very much like one of the topics you should be involved. In short: chromium plays MP3 and MP4 files 'out of the box' in openSUSE 13.1. -------- Forwarded Message --------
From: Ignacio Areta <areta@outlook.com.br> To: opensuse-factory@opensuse.org <opensuse-factory@opensuse.org> Subject: [opensuse-factory] [Bug 847971] Chromium from openSUSE has MP3/MP4 support Date: Fri, 22 Nov 2013 19:59:10 -0200
Hello list,
I'm writing to this list because of a request of Chromium's mantainer.
For some reason, Chromium and chromium-ffmpegsumo from openSUSE have MP3 and MP4 support. The reporter of that bug and I reproduced a MP4 video with sucess, and I reproduced a MP3 audio with success. We're only using chromium-ffmpegsumo from openSUSE (not chromium-ffmpeg from Packman). But it appears the mantainer (Raymond Wooninck) didn't understand what's happening. See the bug: bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=847971
So, I'd like your help to conffirm if this bug is valid and what can be done in this case. Or is it fine to Chromium reproducing MP3 and MP4 using the chromium-ffmpegsumo from openSUSE?
