Hi We have a Iwill dk88 system (dual core amd opteron 200 series, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA nforce4 professional 2000 chipset, ATI RageXL VGA controller with AMI BIOS). I was able to successfully install the system using NFS network installation. But while trying to boot from the hard disk, both the suse9.3 professional & failsafe versions goes into kernel panic mode. Now, this problem is similar to the links posted earlier: 1. http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-amd64/2005-Sep/0043.html 2. http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-amd64/2005-May/0095.html but no solution seems to be provided. Now there is no problem with the system as such because i was able to successfully install RHEL4 on it. I did notice the fact that boot options are the following : **************************************** - SUSE LINUX 9.3 kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3 vga=ox31 selinux=0 splash=silent console=tty0 console=ttyS0 resume=/dev/hda2 showopts initrd (hd0,0)/initrd - Failsafe -- SUSE LINUX 9.3 kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3 showopts ide=nodma apm=off acpi=off vga=normal noresume selinux=0 barrier=off iommu=noforce 3 initrd (hd0,0)/initrd ****************************************** if SUSE linux 9.3 is selected to be booted, the video goes blank and no output or response can be seen. If the "vga" parameter is set to "normal", then the system goes in to kernel panic mode. Failsafe - also goes into kernel panic mode. I salvaged the following stack trace displayed after kernel panic : ******************************************************************* Kernel Panic - not syncing.
