Partitioning without specifying hda/sda devices?
Hi there, my AutoYaST setup is running very fine but there are still some tasks on my list. First is how to make the partitioning device independent? Actually there is a <device>/dev/sda</device> statement in the XML file. Can I just leave this one out to let AutoYaST decide to use the type of device in the system (there are SCSI as well as IDE systems around in my network)? Thanks a lot. Daniel
Daniel, Just dont specify the device, and yast2 will take the first one it finds.. Anas Daniel wrote:

Thanks Anas. I am also facing the same problem. I use "yast2 autoyast" to create the autoyast files. It seems that with this method it is not possible to avoid the device. However when I import RedHat's kickstart configuration file(s); the partition table gets created without specifying the device. Is it possible to create the partition table without specifying the device AND without importing the ks.cfg files AND using "yast2 autoyast" ... :) Thanks, Ajay On Thu, 27 Jan 2005 23:48:45 -0500, Anas Nashif <nashif@suse.de> wrote:
